Call for Applications: 2024 Rangeland Sustainability Program
Are you passionate about the conservation and sustainability of Alberta’s rangelands? The Rangeland Sustainability Program (RSP) is now accepting applications for funding, with a focus on projects that support long-term stewardship of Alberta’s rangelands and the valuable ecosystems of which they are a part.
Each year, a portion of the rental fees paid by producers for grazing on Crown land is reinvested into projects that enhance rangeland sustainability. These funds are used to collaborate with partners and stakeholders across the province on projects that:

- Promote research that improves our understanding of rangeland management for long-term sustainability.
- Help Albertans and industry stakeholders implement rangeland sustainability through education initiatives and tool development.
Eligible project topics include:
- Applied research in adaptive range management practices
- Carbon sequestration research and best management practices for rangelands
- Climate change adaptation and its effects on rangelands
- Ecological restoration of native grasslands
- Development of new tools, practices or strategies for rangeland sustainability

- Livestock producer education and extension
- Mitigation of multiple-use conflicts on rangelands
- Predation management and prevention of cattle loss
